Product update: Space Sync moves from Connect to Forge — Here’s what to do

Atlassian has been moving its Cloud platform away from Connect toward Forge for a while now — better isolation, better security, better long-term support for the apps built on it. Space Sync for Confluence has made that move. Version 3.0.0 is fully rebuilt on Forge.

This isn’t automatic, though.

Major app upgrades on Atlassian Cloud don’t self-deploy the way minor updates do, because they can introduce new permissions that need admin sign-off.

If you’re the site admin, you’ll see Space Sync flagged as not up to date in your Marketplace apps list, and it’ll stay that way until someone approves the update.

In practice, the update itself is quick: open Settings → Apps → Manage apps, find Space Sync for Confluence, click View app details, review what permissions changed, and click Accept & Update.

A few minutes, once you know where to look — no downtime, no data migration on your end. Teams that skip it keep running on the older Connect version, which won’t be migrated automatically and won’t get the improvements that come with 3.0.0 going forward.

If you’d rather not do it mid-day, it’s worth picking a quiet window and giving your team a quick heads-up first. And if anything looks off during the update (an unexpected permission, an error, anything) Our support team is happy to help, before or after you click through.

Full walkthrough with screenshots is in the Manual upgrade guide. Release details are on the Release notes page.
